The turbulence in all spheres of life after Gen‑Z demands, irrespective of political overtones, motives, hypocrisies, or one‑upmanship, is too visible. These agitations touch every sphere of life, not just politics. Concerns arise about anti‑social elements, rogue and derogatory language, crossing lines beyond accepted norms, and vested interests exploiting disturbances to score goals at the cost of decency, national security, and integrity.

This is not the noble disobedience of Mahatma Gandhi, nor the acts of revolutionaries seeking alternate systems. It is not the satyagraha of those who fought emergencies, nor the calls of Jayprakash Narayan or Anna Hazare to cleanse the system. It is a raw outplay of student anxieties, more vocal in this era of obsolescence, with little connection to social or political orders.

🌐 A Generation Beyond Rhetoric

Unprecedented changes sweep the young generation worldwide, beyond the control of traditional governments, whether Modi or Trump. Born with internet and mobile phones, consuming information only through social media, they have not seen the “old” world of innocence and high social values.

They are not exposed to Aesop’s fables, Cinderella, or Panchatantra. They have not seen wildlife, natural life, blossoming gardens, or why a farmer worships the cow and snake. They have not lived in joint families where festivities, sorrows, and happiness were shared. They have not learned coexistence with siblings or how to build bonds with partners. Instead, they know deforestation for construction, live‑in relationships, and above all, uncertainty everywhere.

📜 From Role Models to Obsolescence

Just decades ago, youngsters correlated with Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Sunil Gavaskar, or philanthropists or Ratan Tata. They had role models, bonding, and visibility to life. They looked forward to stable jobs and certainty. Today’s generation has nothing to hold on to: economic uncertainty, job loss, institutional failure, hiring‑and‑firing culture, friction, and brutality everywhere.

These realities existed before, but scale and speed matter. In agricultural, industrial, or post‑industrial eras, there was always something to work upon — saint movements, Jesus Christ, Karl Marx, the UN, or faith in deities. There was a path, real or perceived, to create, build, restructure, and trust. Capitalism, communism, Islamic rule, conversions, institutions, and NGOs functioned for decades.

Today’s generation lives in uncertainty. Nothing to hold, trust, believe, or follow. Everything is obsolete before it is born.

🕰️ Disconnected From Past, Detached From Values

This generation understands Gandhian movements, sacrifices for humanity, and the warmth of parents and grandparents — but only through algorithms and imagination. They cannot correlate with it. They do not know the tortures of the Emergency, horrors of Partition, or bloodbaths of terrorism.

They cannot grasp the pain of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi’s assassinations, especially when their own scion works in opposite directions. They cannot understand how kar sevaks built the Ram temple through decades of effort, while narratives of theft cloud imagination. They cannot understand how women’s dignity was paramount in Indian society, even as politicians pass crass comments, protect hardened criminals, and young girls themselves disrespect womanhood — endorsed by some media as “expression of anger.”

There is no dignity, no boundaries. It may sound exaggerated, but the moral fabric sustaining societies, movements, and constitutional values is mocked by a section of youngsters for whom everything has reel value — not more than 60 seconds before fading out.

⚖️ The Politics of Obsolescence

Political parties may rejoice when convenient, forgetting they too will be discarded by a generation that believes in nothing. Detached from the past, detached from values, uncertain of the future, marriage, economy, and next generation — yet informed and talented — this representation did not exist before in human civilization.

Machines dominate thinking over emotions. Survival dominates sensitivity. Sensation dominates sense. This is not the full picture, and humanity will heal, but it is fairly representative.

This is the battle every political party worth its existence must face. It is not politics of ideology or convenience. It is politics in the era of obsolescence.
